Maribyrnong Civic Precinct
The redevelopment of the Footscray Town Hall as part of the multi-million dollar Civic and Community Precinct Project was completed in late 2024 to upgrade the historic Footscray Town Hall and provide a new community park.
Greenstar initiatives aim for an overall rating of six stars, which is the highest and represents ‘World Leadership’. Dramatic planting will be reflective of Footscray heritage while permitting a clutter-free event space.
The new park has replaced the old civic offices, creating a vibrant public space with a broad open lawn for gatherings, picnics, and community events, alongside a smaller lawn for more intimate gatherings.
A terraced rock boulder garden which features a gathering circle, honors and celebrates Country.
The landscape showcases indigenous plantings, enhancing biodiversity and helping to filter stormwater pollutants before they leave the site.
