Halliday Park
Whilst a seemingly simple concept, our client’s brief of offering ‘inclusive play opportunities for all ages and abilities’ provided a clear purpose for this project.
Coupled with a strong design narrative, the outcomes leave Halliday Park recognised as one of the city’s most popular play spaces and continues the legacy of a park established almost 100 years ago. Symbolically, the prominence of existing English Oak trees from the original 1938 plantings at Halliday Park provided a strong conceptual basis underlying the design.
The symbol of the oak leaf stretches over many cultures representing justice strength and longevity. We applied this narrative and the notion of an “expedition” or “play journey” which creates the opportunity for numerous social and individual activities through different environments and age groups.
