A new multi-purpose building and the refurbishment of an existing science precinct provided opportunities for translating the ESD initiatives in the new buildings into the landscape treatment where collected roof water is stored in 50,000L bladder tanks, used for both toilet flushing and irrigating planting beds.

Pavement water runoff is also drained to planted water sensitive urban design landscape treatments, softening and shading the building facades.

The design successfully achieved best practice DDA accessibility across a challenging and steep site.
